3 tips for a Portrait photo session at home.
How to make a portrait session at home? It’s pretty easy. Step number one is to find a model. Step number two is to think about the appropriate wardrobe. Step number three is to get your gear ready. And since we've covered the basics, now let's talk about some easy ways to improve the overall quality of your shots. These easy steps can also be helpful if you shoot with just your phone.
1. Find good lighting.
As a photographer, I'm going to tell you one secret. Good lighting is a key to a great photo. I tend to use more natural light in my photography. And if you have no option other than to shoot indoors, I suggest finding the biggest window in your house or apartment. Place your model in front of it and voilà! You now have a great source of light falling on the face of your model. Plus you can use curtains as a diffuser if the sun outside is too bright.
2. Props.
You remember this awkward feeling when someone takes a photo of you and you don't know how or where to place your hands. That's why it's so important to have the props on the set. Think in terms of the idea you have for the photoshoot, its mood, and add the props accordingly. It can be anything: a flower, a magazine, a cup of coffee, or anything at all. The sky is the limit. Or the budget is the limit, I would say.
3. Create an atmosphere.
You have a huge advantage while shooting at home. You can relax and even drink a glass of wine. Turn on your favorite melody and just go with that flow. Surround yourself with the most relaxed atmosphere and embrace the results. You can even experiment with the wine you have. Try to shoot through that glass.
As you can see, getting ready for a successful portrait photoshoot is not rocket science. Feel free to add a couple of tips of your own.
