Scheduling

 

What time of the day is the best for the session outside?

Early morning or late afternoon are best for the light. Two hours after sunrise or before sunset. My weekend dates book up fairly quickly, so plan accordingly if you need a Saturday.

Where should we do our session?

This is about telling your story. Family portraits and individual sessions may be captured in the comfort of your home, or various outdoors locations that feature natural settings or the urban cityscape. I’m happy to help you select the ideal setting for your shoot.

 

What are your reschedule/cancellation policies?

Rescheduling is no problem. We'll find a new session date that works for both of us at no charge. I do ask for a 50% deposit to hold your date. If you'd like to cancel and prefer not to reschedule, I unfortunately cannot return your deposit.

How and when do we pay?

A 50% non-refundable retainer (or payment in full) is required to secure your session. The deposit applies to your session fee with the remainder due at the end of your shoot. Please be certain you wish to proceed with your booking as deposits and session payments are non-refundable. I accept many forms of payment (including Venmo, PayPal, checks or cash).

 

Do you travel for the session?

I certainly do! Please note, if outside of Hoboken, Brooklyn or Manhattan, depending on your location, a travel fee might apply. Contact me for more details.

What is your travel fee?

Additional travel rates will vary based on time, distance, and lodging. A minimal $30 travel fee applies for areas outside of 40 miles round trip from 07030.



The Session

 

What can I expect during the session?

My goal is to create a relaxed and fun experience while capturing genuine emotion. If I shoot with families, I find it best to let kids be kids. I will spend time interacting and playing with them to draw this out. I always look for moments and emotion – I believe in the beauty of imperfections and capturing you and the day just as it was, concentrating on emotions and expressions rather than appearances. I shoot on location at your home, in your neighborhood, in a park or fun urban location. I always prefer to use natural light.

What should we wear?

Whatever makes everyone feel comfortable! I suggest sticking to neutral colors like cream, grey, blue, brown. If possible, I would avoid white, black, bold patterns and items with logos, characters or writing. I'd also avoid all wearing the same color. I will send you my Portrait Session Style Guide to make your life easier, after you book a session with me.

Should we bring anything with us?

If you have a baby on board, a blanket to sit on can be handy. A special toy that inspires play (balls, bubbles, balloons) can also bring out some great moments with kids.

What if we look awkward in the pictures?

I get this question all the time! No stress. I can make even the most awkward person feel at ease. I will have you walk and hold hands, laugh at each other, play with your kids, and a million other fun activities to make you look like natural models.

What if it rains?

If the weather is not cooperative, we'll either move the shoot indoors or reschedule. I'll contact you the day before our session if weather looks bad. 

After the Session

 

Can we get the RAW files?

I understand there is an allure to having the unedited versions of the images, but I do not offer that. While I do shoot in RAW format to get the best quality – the images you receive are all toned and corrected as per my style of photography. By choosing to work with me you are also trusting me and my professionalism as a photographer and editor. The final images you receive are ready to print.

How our images will be delivered?

Your photos will be delivered directly to you in a private online gallery. When your photos are ready, you will receive an email with a link to the gallery of images, plus a download pin that allows you to save all of your photos directly to your computer or hard drive.

Do you offer gift certificates?

How do you choose images in my gallery from our shoot?

I look carefully at each and every image we capture at your session and hand-select the best images. I’m looking for images that represent me as an artist and your family, as each is radically unique.

How many photos will we get?

I select and edit the best images from our session. You will get all the images as high-resolution jpeg files ready to be printed ( the quantity of photos depends on the package you choose).

What kind of retouching is included?

All photographs are color corrected and retouched (visible blemishes and bruises, skin tone).

How soon can I see the photos?

I’ll send your online gallery within 3 weeks after the session.

Can I order prints?

Absolutely! You can order prints right through your gallery using my pro lab. Or print them yourself through a lab of your choice.  Contact me to know more about the rates.
